Last weekend my husband and I noticed that our 10-year-old bistro set was quite rusty. It was time to upgrade. We could have replaced it with a traditional patio table and chairs but here’s the deal. Dave and I use our deck for cocktails after work or, on the weekend, after a workout. When we dine on the deck, it’s usually just the two of us. So we decided to go with a bistro table and chair set again. I love the set but you know what I love more?
I moved my “urban garden” onto the old set. So, from this point forward, let us all please refer to my (formerly known as) Urban Garden by its new name…the Bistro Garden.
Isn’t it lovely?
It just feels more lush, somehow.
Perhaps because now it feels like we’re sitting “in” the garden. If that makes any sense.
We love it.

It looks cute! I’ll probably show our barbecue area (to keep in subject on the previous post :p) anytime soon 🙂
Ohh so pretty! It must be so nice to relax there after work with a drink.
We really enjoy it, Dianne!
I must say, you have recycled, re-used, and re-purposed the old set perfectly! Form and function at its best. How green are you?!!! Lovely, it is! Cheers to you and your new Bistro Garden, JL! Enjoy your weekend…on the deck, of course. 🙂
Thanks, dear friend!
looks great! what a clever way to use your old table and chairs.
Thank you, Sara!
Gorgeous view! You inspired me – I went out and bough planters yesterday and potted my first mint, basil, and cilantro last night. 🙂
Laura, that’s so great!! I can’t wait to see how your garden grows!
Love your Bistro Garden!
Thank you! 🙂
love to re-purpose : )
Right?! No waste, and it’s pretty!
Great use of the old bistro set. Your veggies definitely deserve the fine dining treatment 🙂 Looks like everything is growing nicely! So, what is the first meal that you are going to make with fruits of your labour?
Thank you! My guess is that either the red romaine lettuce or cherry tomatoes will be the first to harvest. In cooking class yesterday we made a delicious, spicy cherry tomato sauce that I would love to make with my own tomatoes!
That’s so cute, great use of old furniture. We have an outdoor set that’s starting to show it’s age, hmmm…
